Has the cessna mustang been tested under windows 8? I am thinking of buying it but would hate to buy it and it isn't compatible.

Hi Caribflyer,

I run Win8 64 pro: FSX runs fine.
The installation of the mustang was smooth as well.
When I select the aircraft in the main starting screen the system becomes very slow, after some time the loading process seems to be finished and when i hit the "fly now"-button the screen turns black and fsx does not respond anymore. same thing happens when i load the aircraft ingame.

So from my experience so far ist that the current version is not running on Win8-systems.
Maybe some other user have made better experiences than me.

The official statement is that Windows 8 is not supported, check the post by Jeff:

To quote a post on the subject posted today by the developer:

"In time, and when we know Win8 is solid we will indeed do our best to make sure all is well with the Mustang and Win8. But for now? I am not rushing into anything so that I have to make additional changes again for rushing."

So guessing it to be a while, in the meantime have posted a thread on AVSIM to see if anyone else has it working in Windows 8 or if there is anything people can do in the interim.

A fix that may work is to turn off Windows Problem Reporting.
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Action Center\Problem Reporting Settings

I had the same slow loading issue with another aircraft and this was suggested on their forum and it worked. If it works for the Mustang I am surely going to buy it.

Thank you for the tip!
A few days ago I decided to move back to Win7.
As I am not running Win8 anymore I am unfortunately unable to determine if the workaround solves this issue.

happy landings

I am new to the Mustang on FSX program and I am unable to select and operate the Mustang. The program shuts down and displays a "critical error" message. Any help will be welcome and appreciated.
