Hi,
A beta for P3Dv5 is now available. You can get it as one of the file options in the Flight1 Agent Library. Note that P3Dv5 is not officially supported at this time,
but you are welcome to try it and post issues you may have in this
forum. We have had some very nice results so far in P3Dv5. It is very important you have the following settings adjusted in P3Dv5 so that the G1000 renders clearly: 1. FXAA should be set to Off 2. Mipmap VC Panels should be UNCHECKED There are no major changes to the product itself except it is compiled with SimConnect for P3DV5, the gauge is compiled with the same VC++ runtimes as P3Dv5, and the Alpha layer in the liveries (except the "flight test" scheme) have been modified to give the aircraft a little shine in P3Dv5. Here are some pictures taken in P3Dv5: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hey Mr. Halpern - thanks so much for bringing this great bird to P3Dv5! I've just done a quick circuit around KICT, hand flying, and no problems occurred. And, I left FXAA ON, and mipmaps ON - no problems reading the G1000 screens on my system. Will do more testing w/flight plans, autopilot, etc.... Jim

That's great news! Thank you!
I'm a type rated Citation Mustang pilot and this aircraft is really great for training. I guess I can move from P3D V4 to V5 now.
If you would have the C510 for MSFS2020, same level of functions, I guess I'd aditionally buy MSFS2020, too. |

I own V5 but haven't used it as I have been waiting for the Mustang and B200 to be updated to it. Glorious day! Thank you, Steve. I'm off to reinstall V5 and try these beauties out.

FS2020 does not allow C++ gauges yet. When you have development over 10 years and likely over 100,000 lines of code, converting it will likely be a quite major task depending on the final FS2020 SDK for C++ developers. And this does not even touch models, sounds, flight model, etc. But for advanced flying, you cannot do any better than P3D 4/5 (or X-Plane) at this time. I would think FS2020 will progress over a period of time to integrate the same level of flight modeling and systems ability as these other sims.

I saw that in the KingAir... I read this was some type of bug being addressed by Lockheed Martin.

Raining or fog inside the cockpit can be solved by either
- deactivating World: Water Reflections or - deactivating Enhanced Atmospherics (it's beta, but great cloud simulation for IFR) The P3D V5 Mustang (beta) is doing really well so far. HDR Lighting should be off, otherwise you can't see knobs and buttons. Remarks for both versions, P3D V4 and V5 (which are already really nice!): - One little thing that would be very easy to fix: the Mustang's PW615F engines deliver 1,460 lbs of thrust. It originally was designed and advertised with 1,390 lbs, but from serial number one all aircraft were delivered with 1,460 lbs thrust. - Autopilot: FLC (= IAS) mode is frequently leading to very unstable flight. Standard is climb with FLC 170 KIAS / M0.44. - Battery on EMER should last for 30 min and only power display PFD1. No lights except dome light, no electric gear, no flaps, no speedbrakes, no normal brakes on EMER. You use EMER in case of both GEN U/S. - Stand-by instruments are all electric, not by vacuum or mechanic. Battery for 30 min after normal battery is off. - CAS messages do flash, until acknowledged by button.

Hi Andreas, Thanks for the rain settings. You can try these .air and .cfg files and check the thrust. Not sure what other effects it may cause on other systems but you are free to try it. We will note the other issues but most likely it involves some major changes in some areas... We are mostly working on P3Dv5 compatibility now.

No Joy for me.....
The installer gets to the end where it says "INSTALLING-SEEKING" and stops right there and i get a "Not Responding" Update, I check the P3D V5 files and infact the F1 Mustang was there. So i ran P3d V5 and it works. Thank you for bring the Mustang back into my P3D V5. It was missed. I know this is a Beta, Small issue that i see is, The landing and taxi lights bleed into the cockpit. But so far so good. Ed

You can try this .mdl file. It goes into the Prepar3D v5\SimObjects\Airplanes\F1_Cessna Mustang\model.standard folder This model is ported so there are some issues that have to be worked around. The lights were moved forward a little so they do not cause bleeding into the cockpit. Models based on FSX appear to do this in P3D. |

Will that air.zip work in V5. It definitely is low on power. Can only get 86% full throttle.
Thanks...

Yes, I checked it and re-cal. just to be safe. There is No difference between "Climb" power and "Take Off" power. both will read 87% on the panel and i can only do a shallow climb.

Hi Ed, did you replace the .air and .cfg file? The last link in this thread is just for the model (mdl) file to address lights bleeding into the cockpit. The .air and .cfg zip is higher up. I am not a Mustang expert, but I just tested the files that were uploaded. Here it is at altitude using CLB power. Note that takeoff showed roughly 95, and CLB dropped back to below 90 (initially). ![]() |

Thank you so much! I didn't see any Select file, but thanks to you I looked in that area and read that an agent update was required, from 1.0.2.4 to 1.0.2.6. Then I could download the file. Again, thanks.

94 % N1 is pretty accurate for CLB power. Not even take-off is 100 % and all values are depending on altitude and temperature. This is nicely simulated.
Those turbofans on the Mustang are FADEC regulated. No complicated climb schedules. All the N1, N2 and ITT are pretty spot on. Idle Fuel Flow is a bit low (80 pph vs. 120 pph RW). Putting 1460 lbs in the aircraft.cfg, not changing air file, did the job to me to get the same performance as in the real aircraft.

Mustang 2.1.1 works excellent with P3V5. except Navigraph FMS data has not been recognized.

You have to manually point the Navigraph installer to the P3D V5 folder until Navigraph can change the installer to do it automatically.

Everything is smooth as silk, but once the G1000 turns on, all hell breaks loose. Any suggestions?
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and a 2080Ti (full watercooled loop - no temperature issues) and 32GB DDR4 - 3800. GSYNC monitor, so there simply isn't any tearing anywhere (except with the G1000). Everything from FSL A320 to PMDG777, even Captain Sim 767 is buttery smooth, and the Mustang is as well until as i said the G1000 comes to life. Then it's jumping between 100fps and 30 which turns the simulator into a stutterfest. There is clearly something going on here with the G1000 simulation, maybe forcing it to run on another core, IIRC there was an option to do so? Thanks

Well, there's really not much to it. I just need to power up the aircraft by switching on the battery. As soon as the G1000 comes alive, the framerate more than halves.
Framerate isn't the issue, really, the problem here is something else that seems to be cyclic and causes this stuttering. Needless to say i have a default aircraft as my P3D startup (in my case it's the default F-22), then when the aircraft select window comes up i then select the actual addon i want to fly with (in this case the Mustang), select an airport and start the simulator. At the airport, click to power on the aircraft on the battery switch and it starts with that behaviour. I will be away from my computer for a few weeks now, if there's the need, i will make a video upon my return in order to show the issue better.

Are you running multiple monitors and undocking and moving a gauge or two to the other monitor?

Hi John, I just did that and saw no decrease in fps/smoothness. Still have not started cold and dark then set to BAT switch to ON. That's next.

The 4.5 update now prevents me from moving an undocked gauge to a separate monitor for the reason you mentioned. If I move it back to the sim monitor, it smooths back out. It could also be due to my graphics card. 5.0 doesn't do that.

Well, sadly I've decided that the upgrade to V5 just isn't worth it to me. Doing the dance and adding all my add-ons and buying a ton more just to get the sim to look and perform half as good as MSFS just isn't something I'm willing to do at this point. Now that Aersosoft has just released the CRJ for MSFS and PMDG is coming soon I finally deleted P3d off my HDD and am now fully committed to MSFS. That said I really miss this beautiful and fun to fly AC and hope for a F! Mustang for MSFS. It would be a Day-1 purchase from me!!! Also: Based on the HUGE sales success of the Aerosoft CRJ release (PMDG attentively watching the Aerosoft sales spike and releasing a new statement based on same), PMDG themselves are now Rushing to get there birds in MSFS. I would say the juice on this one would definitely be worth the squeeze!

With my install and the Citation loaded in P3D v5.1 as you described at an addon airport (KBWI), with the VC I see well over 100 fps. Going to cold and dark does increase the fps just a bit. Engaging the BATT switch from cold and dark does produce a momentary fps drop, which is to be expected due to the graphics system drawing the G1000 and other displays. However, after just a few seconds the fps are back to what I first saw. My system is an i7-8700K with 5GHz on all cores, 32MB RAM and a GTX1080.

I'll try a reinstall myself as i have hardware that should behave AT LEAST as good as that.
EDIT: Reinstalled, same exact problems. As soon as the G1000 comes to life, it's a stutterfest. This only happens with the Mustang, any other addon during whole flights (even PMDG's 777 or 747 during 20 hour flights) don't show any stuttering at all. Here's an example video, HD version might still be processing: |
